I suggest playing Warrior.
The prime idea of using a spear in the realm of GW is to chuck it. More skills that act like Spear Swipe would be nice, but outright attacking in melee is pointless for Paragons.

Maybe we can have different pole arm weapons. Like halberds and pikes?
Although pikes are essentially really long spears.

Pointless? Not at all.It would be higher dps and adrenaline gain, as you don't wait for the spear to his them.
And I do play a Warrior. And I like shouts more than axes

I liked the idea, i came to GW from Morrowind, and wondered how a Paragon could use a spear AND shield. So it would be nice to have some halberds, pikes, etc. Maybe they could do more damage when you charge stupid fast at your enemy

I was always wanting to use melee with my spear every now and then with my paragon, it would be nice to be able to do. I /sigh for even more melee skills like spear swipe, but whatever it takes to get some melee with spears, as throwing them is not the only thing you can do with them.

sounds good, but anyONE get the feeling of a 300 influence?
not think it would be a tad annoying having hundreds of 12 year Spartans running around shouting "PREPARE FOR GLORY!"

I wish they added weapons as a separate system to attributes, so you could choose the weapon you like regardless of primary or secondary profession.
So I'm in for any new weapons.

First, that's a false idea. Closer range =/= more damage. Closer range = better chance of striking.
Second, I'm still not sure what you hope to accomplish by giving Paragons a melee attack ability with their spears.

I would love to see that in GW2, although certain proffessions would need to have penalties for certain types of weapons.

My N/Mo uses an Axe, and does so quite well.
My Mo/Me uses a Spear, and does so quite well.
My Me/Mo uses a Sword, and does so quite well.
My W/Mo uses a Fire Wand, and does so quite well.

This is a great Idea and would be very fun to charge into battle with a lance or pike, or something like it.
It would fit GW better than a endless supply of spears LOL.
I can understand the ranger with a quiver full of arrows. A skilled ranger can make his own arrows very fast. and a quiver holds quite a bit of arrows.
But a Spear thrower can only hold so many spears before they are to heavy. and once you are down to the last spear would you want to throw it or keep it. if you throw it you better hope you have a back up weapon.
GW should have kept up how practical some of the weapons they add are (Throwing spears=bad, Throwing axe=BAD, Throwing Daggers=BAD, Throwing swords=BAD, Throwing anything that is your main weapon=BAD) Anet left out everything else that you throw as a weapon but why did they allow spears?

I don't see the point. What would the difference between a melee spear, and any other melee weapon, be? There are already 5 melee weapons, each with a specific niche; what niche would a melee spear fill? What would it do that's so different from the others?

Why not make a Weapon called Polearm and have Spear, Staff, Scythe, Glaive and Lance Skins?
And all are able to Hit Foes from affar and can hit up to 3 Foes.

I'm not sure hitting 3 foes would be a good idea for all polearms, spears and lances would have at least some thrusts aimed at a single target, otherwise I like this idea.
